Primark’s flagship store in Prague is gearing up for an opening, writes E15, which noticed that online employment advertisements. It also noted that the Czech language is beginning to show up on the discount fashion retailer’s international website, including useful information such as “the upcoming opening of Primark’s store at Wenceslas Square 47” which shows up under a picture of the United States flag. “With the opening up of retail we can finally continue in planning for the opening of our first branch in the Czech Republic” said a representative of Primark. The company is contracted to open a 4,700 sqm store at The Flow Building at Wenceslas Square 47. A second Primark should open in the Olympia Brno shopping center in 2022.

Construction has started on the fifth warehouse at VGP Park Plzeň which is located on a 10 hectare plot near the D5 motorway. DHL Express and Verhoek Europe have already pre-leased more than 3,000 sqm of the new facility, which will be suitable for light manufacturing and logistics. The two logistics providers should be able to move into the building in September. VGP Park Plzeň is located at the southern edge of the city of Pilsen near the Olympia Plzeň shopping center. Its tenant list includes Faiveley Transport Czech, Assa Abloy ES Production, Transtechnik CS, Excell Czech.

Finally, the Czech state is doing what it can to keep the construction sector afloat. Along with moving forward on the construction of new roads and motorways, it’s just agreed to build two new hospital buildings at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM). The investment will cost more than CZK 1 billion, 60% of which will be paid for by the state. IKEM itself will pay for the rest, having prepared the project for years. “We’ve been saving up almost since our founding,” said its boss Michal Stiborek. “We’ve run profits for a long time, we knew that this would be a big investment after 32 years.” Along with room for 56 more beds, the buildings will be equipped for cardiology and transplant surgery.
