ČEZ ESCO has acquired the Prague-based office interiors company Capexus for an undisclosed sum. ČEZ ESCO, which focuses on energy services (including decarbonizing and energy consultations and energy audits) currently has around 2,000 employees. Capexus designs and delivers energy-efficient office space and helps revitalize older commercial buildings. The motivation to acquire it is based on ČEZ ESCO’s belief that tenants and landlords will be pushed by EU and investors to reach net-zero targets, or at least greater energy efficiency.

Capexus representatives says the company had entertained several offers for acquisitions over the past three years from strategic international players known on the Czech market. What made the ČEZ ESCO the right fit, they say, was its energy building management know-how and the potential cooperation with ČEZ ESCO subsidiaries like AZ KLIMA and HORMEN. Capexus is active on the Czech and Slovak markets with around 100 employees and total turnover in 2020 of CZK 650 million. Capexus partners Karel Konečný and Daniel Matula are also active in the investment company 100 Towers Holding that acquired River Corner (formerly Lyra) this year. The company plans to invest €40 million to €50 million euros in the next 12 months, mainly in real estate and development.
