144 meter tower planned in Brno

HS-Investment’s Austrian owner Gerhard Hudecek has outlined his plans to build a 144-meter tower in Brno’s Heršpická district. H Tower should include 144 serviced apartments, 92 residential units, and office space. The 37-floor project is estimated to cost 3.5 billion Czech crowns.
But construction isn’t exactly going to start tomorrow.
“For projects this large, obtaining building permits is challenging,” Hudecek told iDnes. “We expect it will take three to four years of work. The subsequent construction would then take another two to three years. If everything goes smoothly, we would like to open H Tower by the end of 2031,” . Then again, Brno planners aren’t shy of giving the green light to tall buildings. H Tower would be the tallest building in the country, were it to go ahead (and were it to complete before the planned Ostrava Towers project hits 170 meters). The current Czech king of the heights is AZ Tower, located next door to H Tower.
The design by architect Martin Habina calls for the creation of a green park on the roofs of lower phases of the project (which have already won planning approval). These areas would be accessible to the public from the street. The vast majority of cars will be “hidden” underground, with plans for 395 parking spaces.
“The basic idea is to bring a solution to today’s inhospitable Heršpická environment that will, with its gravity, green oasis in the form of a roof park covering 1,300 square meters, and wide range of services, become something that will elevate this area and give it sustainable development,” says Habina. He claims the building would serve as an orientation point on the axis between Petrov Cathedral and Pálava, though one would think AZ Tower serves this purpose already.
