The residential developer AFI Europe will put two rental projects on the market in May. With sale prices for flats quickly rising beyond the point of affordability, the company made a strategic decision over a year ago to focus solely on rental schemes. The first of the projects is AFI Home Karlin located on the corner of Thámova and Pernerova in Prague 8 and offer 172 units of up to 4 bedrooms. The second project, AFI City Kolbenova, is located near the Vysočany metro station. Part of the wider AFI City project (which also includes office buildings), the project offers 313 units. “Both residences are located right on the metro, near green areas,” says AFI Europe’s marketing manager. “We can also offer our residential clients flexible lease periods.”
The popular Polish discount grocery chain Biedronka is looking to expand into Slovakia and Romania. “Slovakia and Poland have similar shopping culture,” said Pedro Soares dos Santos, board chairman of Jeronimo Martin, which owns Biedronka. “Many Slovaks cross the border to Poland to shop at Biedronka, which is why we’re planning to invest in the country,” he said, adding that they’re still carrying out a details market analysis. There are no immediate plans to invest in the Czech Republic.
