This is really worth a look. The city of Amsterdam relies on its residents to commute by bike to such a degree that’s it’s making major infrastructure investments in order to increase its attractiveness. The bike tunnel under the Ij will mean bikers (as well as pedestrians) won’t have to wait for the ferry to get across it. It will be adorned with plants that can survive on artificial light and that will be green all year round. An inspired plan by a city that demonstrates how far ahead the biggest cities to the west still are.
